bedrock
Bedrock is a real estate development company focused on fueling the growth of Cleveland and Detroit.
They develop iconic cityscapes, create space for community, fearlessly invest in the future and magnify points of city pride—all with a commitment to operating for more than profit.
find your foundation
Announcing Bedrock’s brand platform needed to not only inspire tenants, but also unify and create a sense of pride with everyone on staff. Yes, they create free roller rinks for everyone, and yes, they sell exclusive penthouses.
Bedrock truly builds space; space to grow businesses, community, and culture. Every building has a story—some a storied past, some a new one to write. With this, our stories had to represent the spirit of the people who are here for those who are coming.

“I tell people, you’ve got to feel Detroit. Detroit isn’t a place you can describe. You’ve got to put your feet on the ground and feel it to understand it.”
- Dan Gilbert
Hudson's Detroit
Defined by Detroit.
Built for the World.
Detroit has gone vertical. Bedrock’s Hudson Building is the first skyscraper built in the city in over half a century.
We are retelling a living story of this space—two iconic buildings that defined the city’s past and now redefine its future.

Meet Mary & Mildred: 94-year-old twins whose formative years were spent with trips downtown to shop at Hudson’s with their mother and working there in their teens to bringing their own children to see the holiday parade.
Detroit Artist Timothy Burke's sculptures remind us that what’s broken can still have meaning, and that every piece of Detroit’s past shapes what’s being built today.
Through his art, he’s found a way to hold on to both his family’s story and Detroit’s.
Ed Davis is building something lasting for his daughter—and in a lot of ways, he’s the blueprint. For years, he’s been working on Hudson's Detroit, watching each day’s work stack into something bigger.
As a native Detroiter, what matters most to him goes beyond the skyline. It’s what his daughter will grow up knowing: her dad helped build something meant to last for generations.

Reflections Series
This mini doc series reflects on the stories of generational Detroiters and their history with the original J.L Hudson Department Store. The new Hudson's skyscraper marks the first building of its kind in over 70 years in the city of Detroit and its remarkable history is part of the fabric of downtown.
There’s a kind of longing that isn’t born from your own memories, but from the stories you inherit. The details you can picture but never lived.
For Aaron Amos, Hudson’s is that feeling, carried through family stories, holiday rituals, little green bags, and a downtown always in motion.
Book Tower
The restoration of Detroit’s historic Book Tower is marvel of modern preservation, reintroducing it required an majestic touch.
The embodiment of light pierces through the darkness reawakening Book Tower for its next chapter.
Poem written and performed by Nneka Julia.
